Taking its name from Japanese swordfight movies, this series explores the segregation between men and women, and the effects of this disunity.
While these were shot in Japan, this collection is not meant as a comprehensive portrait any more than a Western movie is a historical document.
It is instead a personal story told with photos I shot during the four years I lived in Japan in the early 1990s and put into cold storage until very recently.
I initially conceived of this as a book, and I am preserving the four-panel layouts. 
I will be adding to this.
